Typical day includes taking care of customers and working with the local pharmacy. However, management takes up much of your time with repetitive conference calls, you cover area that are states away with the promise “they’ll hire someone eventually”, and initiatives change weekly so you never know what you’re concentrating on.

Expected to know what customers are thinking and berated when you don’t and you never know who to report to because managers change almost monthly. Omnicare has been described as a sinking ship and it’s all but under at this point. When I started working for Omnicare, it seemed like the ideal job. Coworkers, for the most part, were happy to be there. Everyone was friendly. The company actually seemed to care no only for the customer, but also for the employees.

This was one of the most notable changes in the dynamics after the CVS takeover. Some people were still happy to be there, but that was due largely in part because friendships had been established.

Our customers were getting frustrated with the changes that were taking place and leaving. Delivery drivers were being blamed for pharmacy shortcomings in not getting the orders out on time. With customer loss came hour cutting (from a 40 hour work week to a mandatory no more than 30 hour work week) mass firings in order to keep they're overhead low.
