I think (may be wrong) that soundfonts only work with Creative Labs - SoundBlaster type sound cards. I have a SoundBlaster Audigy SE card and it uses soundfonts and comes with soundfont bank manager type software. I've purchased some professional soundfonts and they all seem to be geared for use with the Creative Labs cards. If you have this type of card, you have to load the soundfont into the memory bank on the card, and then you can use your MIDI controller to play the soundfonts just like you would play a General MIDIl (GM) set.

Contrary to what others are saying, soundfonts are a neat way of tapping into a nostalgic in a song. FL Studio has one built in already for the Roland GS Soundbank, which you might recognize being used in Porter Robinson's song Sad Machine. Is a tutorial on how to access those.

For other soundfonts, I suggest just going on google and searching for ones based on certain games. As an example, look up 'Zelda Ocarina Of Time Soundfont.' For trap and hip hop specifically, they might not be the most useful but I hope this helped!
