Today I wanted to share some of our pictures from last trip to Jaipur, India. The transportation there uses many different forms. We got to ride an elephant to the top of the hill to visit an old fort. However this is not unique to tourists.

Locals also use the transportation in their daily routine. During the trip we were waiting at a traffic light to change in Jaipur. Jaipur is the capital city of the province of Rajasthan with a population of over 3 million. It was a long light and took almost three minutes to change.

It was a rather amazing scene as soon as the light changed. Elephants, camels, donkeys and bullock carts were all fighting their way through the traffic along side the cars, trucks and the tuk-tuks (auto rickshaw). You have to experience it to understand how well they co-exist.

If you get thirsty in this slow moving traffic, there always the coconut water vendors alongside the road. The last photograph shows the nice hotel we stayed.

Love to share-Shashi and Eswar 6th December 2014 2014 1206-Jaipur- Elephant ride is very hard and specially when I wanted to use the hight to get some pictures. What we could see on the road. 24 November 2014. Today I am sharing Pictures and write up by Eswar. Most of the time Shashi is on her own with the birds. I do go with her occasionally but not very often I take my camera (Shashi tells me how I wasted my money on the camera). The fact is, keeping Shashi going on these expeditions is more than a full time job.

I am her IT expert, maintain the computers and software, prepare the back up drives (we have a RAID system for these) and the cloud subscriptions. In addition, when we travel, I chalk out the maps and routes (most of the time they are back roads and are not on the map. I also tell her that unmaintained road are off limits), keep her watered and fed so that the energy levels are always peaking. After a bit of prodding, I took my gear today to do a photo shoot on the snowy owls. For a change, I was not the spotter and got to ride as a passenger.

As soon as we reached the marsh area via Strongville Road, a huge male appeared on the side of the road. Normally larger animals do not come down this far south.

Mostly juveniles do. So it was a real treat. Not long before we saw a few more for a total of five owls in a 10 km area. The ending was a breathtaking sunset. For those who are photographers and interested – I used a Fuji XT2 Camera with a 100-400 (4.5-5.6 lens), ISO 1200, F5.6 and a shutter speed of 1000. The first picture shows how close we were to the birds. They are getting used to the traffic and just hover around even if they move.

Cad2shape 7 0 serial killer. The males have no speckles on them. You can clearly distinguish the difference between males and females. Unfortunately, as the season progresses, we will see more and more photography-tourists and some of them bring mice as a bait for them. This is changing their natural habit of hunting for them in the fields.

As soon as they see a car, they come to the road looking for a hand out. Eventually, it will hurt their ability to survive when they return to the Arctic in the spring. On the plus side, the snowy owl populations seem to be thriving and we are fortunate to see these magnificent birds in this area. Best part of My winter experience is searching for Snowy Owls and photographing them. Yesterday finally I went to do this as it was mild and sunny day. Found 4 owls, lots of Snow bunting and a very beautiful sunset.
