Drivers must be constantly upgraded to the latest as new features and fixes appear. Staying with an old driver is never an option on the long run. Any software which is dealing with graphics should always support the latest driver if nothing else.

On seeing your post, I did however quickly test the 260.99 NVidia driver under Win7 x64 under two NVidia GPUs from two different boards manufacturers (EVGA GT240 and Palit 9600GT), and mControl worked just fine via both the native driver NVAPI and the public WinAPI. If I were you, I would recheck you local configuration: - Run softMCCS and see if DDC/CI is working (on a Samung, it will say 'DDC/CI is supported but unrecognized manuafcturer'). SoftMCCS uses its own driver, where mControl uses the NVidia driver. - if softMCCS runs ok, your connections are good, so the next step would be to change inputs to see if the driver problem is localized to a specific pipe (i.e., check via VGA) - if softNCCS *fails*, you are probably *not* looking at an NVidia driver issue.
